Peak Start Puppy Program

Exclusively designed for the puppies bred at Three Peaks Labradors & Training, my Peak Start Puppy Program sets your new companion up for success by building a strong foundation of skills and confidence. This comprehensive program is tailored to help your puppy develop into a well-mannered, happy, and adaptable family member. This program is a unique opportunity to combine the expertise of a breeder and professional trainer, giving your puppy the ultimate head start in life and offering peace of mind for your family.

Key Skills Your Puppy Will Learn:

1. Puppy Basics
Your puppy will learn essential life skills, including:

  • Housebreaking: Establishing reliable potty habits and relaxing in a supervised home environment.
  • Crate Training: Creating a safe and comfortable space for meals, rest, and alone time.
  • Traveling: Feeling comfortable riding and relaxing in a crate during vehicle trips.
  • Basic Commands: Teaching foundational obedience skills like sit, stay, and come.
  • Polite Behaviors: Taking food gently and walking nicely on a leash.
  • Cooperative Care: Remaining calm and comfortable during handling and grooming activities, such as nail trims, brushing, bathing, ear cleaning, and vet visits.

2. Socialization
Positive exposure during critical development stages to:

  • New environments, ensuring confidence in unfamiliar settings.
  • A variety of people, dogs, and situations to encourage good manners and adaptability.

3. Problem Prevention
Common puppy behaviors are addressed before they become habits:

  • Nipping: Redirecting playful biting to appropriate behaviors.
  • Chewing: Teaching what’s okay to chew and what’s not.
  • Jumping: Encouraging polite greetings and self-control.

Program Structure & Timeline:

1. Enrollment & Planning

  • Enrollment is limited, so families interested in the program should sign up prior to picking up their puppy, preferably between the time of reservation and before the puppies are 8 weeks old.
  • A consultation will be conducted to understand your lifestyle, needs, and goals for the puppy. This helps me customize the training approach for each individual dog.

2. Training Period (4-8 Weeks)

Puppies remain with me for additional training beyond the standard 8-week pick-up age. This is the critical period where they:

  • Learn life skills (Puppy Basics).
  • Gain confidence (Socialization).
  • Avoid common issues (Problem Prevention).
Training can be structured into two phases:

Phase 1: Weeks 8-12

  • Focus on housebreaking, crate training, and basic commands.
  • Introduce polite behaviors and cooperative care with gentle handling and short sessions.
  • Begin positive exposure to new environments and people through short, controlled outings.

Phase 2: Weeks 13-16 (Optional Extended Program)

  • Build on basic commands with distractions and longer-duration tasks like stay.
  • Continue socialization with busier environments, more interactions with people/dogs, and varied locations (parks, pet-friendly stores).
  • Reinforce problem prevention strategies for nipping, chewing, and jumping through consistent management and redirection.

3. Progress Updates

  • Families are provided with weekly updates on their puppy’s progress, including photos, videos, and summaries of skills mastered or in progress.
  • Tips are shared with families to continue reinforcing skills once the puppy transitions home.

4. Transition to New Homes

  • At the end of the program, a personalized handover session is scheduled.
  • During the session:
    • Families will be taught how to maintain the puppy’s training.
    • Key skills will be demonstrated and written instructions and tips for ongoing reinforcement will be provided.
  • An additional follow-up call or visit after the puppy has settled in to address any questions or challenges is also included.

Program Options & Pricing:

Two tiers offered based on the length of stay and depth of training:

  1. 4-Week Program ($2500): Covers essential Puppy Basics and foundational socialization.
  2. 8-Week Program ($5000): Includes advanced commands, refined leash manners, expanded socialization, and more comprehensive problem prevention.

Both programs are priced to reflect the additional care, expertise, and individualized attention provided.

Key Benefits:

1. Expertise in Early Development

  • In-Depth Knowledge of Puppies: As the breeder, I have a deep understanding of the puppy’s lineage, temperament, and developmental milestones, allowing for personalized and effective training.
  • Critical Socialization Period: The additional 4-8 weeks occur during a critical window for socialization (8-16 weeks), ensuring your puppy is positively exposed to new experiences, environments, and people under expert guidance.

2. Comprehensive Skill Building

  • Foundational Training: Puppies learn essential life skills such as housebreaking, crate training, polite leash walking, and basic commands (sit, stay, come).
  • Problem Prevention: Common puppy issues like nipping, chewing, and jumping are addressed proactively, reducing the likelihood of bad habits forming.
  • Confidence and Manners: Puppies are introduced to grooming, handling, and cooperative care, making future vet visits and grooming stress-free.

3. Seamless Transition into Your Home

  • Customized Training: The trainer tailors the program to suit your family’s lifestyle, needs, and goals, ensuring the puppy fits seamlessly into your home.
  • Ready to Thrive: By the time your puppy comes home, they already have a foundation of good manners and established routines, making the transition smoother and less stressful.

4. Lifetime Support

  • Ongoing Support: you will be provided a unique continuity of care, offering guidance and follow-up support as your puppy grows.
  • Insight into Personality: my extended time with the puppy gives you valuable insights into their personality, strengths, and preferences, setting you up for a lifelong bond.

5. Higher Training Success Rates

  • Professional Expertise: As a certified professional dog trainer, I bring advanced skills and knowledge to the training process, ensuring effective methods and consistent progress.
  • Long-Term Benefits: Early training lays the groundwork for a well-behaved, confident, and adaptable dog, reducing the need for corrective training later in life.
